Investing in a premium fantasy toy is exciting, but once the fun is over, the reality of cleanup sets in. If you are used to smooth, traditional toys, a fantasy creature with intricate scales, ridges, and a prominent knot can look a little intimidating to clean.

Because we pour every Kinky Kreature using 100% body-safe, platinum-cure silicone, our toys are completely non-porous and incredibly durable. With the right care routine, your creature will last for years. Here is everything you need to know about cleaning, sterilising, and storing your fantasy silicone toys.

The Golden Rule: Water-Based Lube Only

Before we even get to cleaning, we have to talk about playtime. Never use silicone-based lubricants with your silicone toys.

Silicone acts as a solvent to itself. Using a silicone lube will cause a chemical reaction that melts the surface of your toy, leaving it permanently sticky, degraded, and unsafe to use. Always stick to high-quality water-based lubricants. They are safe, easy to wash off, and will keep your toy’s detailed textures in perfect condition.

Routine Cleaning (Before and After Every Use)

Because fantasy toys feature deep textures and detailed anatomy, they require a bit more attention during routine washing to ensure no residue gets left behind in the crevices.

  1. Warm Water and Soap: Wash your toy thoroughly with warm water and a mild, unscented antibacterial soap.

  2. Get into the Details: Use your fingers to gently rub soapy water into any textured areas, such as scales, ridges, or the base of a knot.

  3. Rinse Completely: Make sure all soap is rinsed away.

  4. Toy Cleaners: If you prefer, you can use a dedicated antibacterial toy cleaner spray instead of soap. Just spray it generously, let it sit for the recommended time, and rinse thoroughly.

Deep Cleaning and Sterilisation

One of the biggest advantages of the premium platinum-cure silicone we use at Kinky Kreatures is its extreme heat resistance. This means you can fully sterilise your toys to ensure they are 100% hygienic, which is highly recommended if you are sharing toys with a partner or have been dealing with a yeast infection.

How to Boil Your Toy:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Ensure the pot is large enough that the toy won't constantly rest against the hot metal bottom (you can place a washcloth at the bottom of the pot to be safe).

  2. Submerge the toy completely in the boiling water.

  3. Boil for 3 to 5 minutes.

  4. Carefully remove the toy using tongs and place it on a clean towel to cool.

(Note: Never boil toys that contain internal vibrators or electronic components, though this does not apply to solid Kinky Kreatures pours!)

Drying and Storage

Proper storage is just as important as washing when it comes to preserving the lifespan of your toy.

  • Drying: Let your toy air dry completely in a well-ventilated area, or pat it dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid using standard tissues or paper towels, as the silicone (especially Ultra Soft density) can attract paper lint.

  • Storage: Store your toys in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can fade the pigments over time.

  • Keep Them Separated: Even though platinum-cure silicone is highly stable, it is always best practice to store your toys so they are not touching each other, or other materials like TPR/TPE. Use a breathable storage bag, wrap them in a clean cotton cloth, or keep them in their original packaging.

  • Beware of Pets: Cats and dogs absolutely love the texture of silicone. Keep your creatures safely locked away in a drawer or box where your furry friends can’t mistake them for chew toys!

Taking care of a fantasy toy only adds a few minutes to your routine, but it ensures that your creature stays hygienic, structurally sound, and ready for your next adventure.
